Randy Couture Fitness Program
Randy Couture is an American mixed martial arts, Greco-Roman wrestler, actor and three time former heavyweight and three time light-heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He’s the one of only two UFC fighters to have held a championship title in two different divisions in the UFC as well as the only five time champion in UFC history. Randy Couture is in his late 40s yet he’s still competing in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) which makes him a truly inspiring man, one to look to up to in this planet. In his mid 40s, he is a lean mean fighting machine who has the body of a fit male in his 20s. Of course with a body like that, people can’t help but wonder how in the world he’s been able to keep fit? The answer? Couture credits his fitness to his diet plan, his fitness training exercise program and his positive mindset – frequently saying that his passion drives him to excel.
The Diet Plan of a 40-Something Man
The usual diet plan of an MMA fighter is either a diet plan that requires eating foods rich in carbs and protein or they’re generally in the low carb diet plan. Randy’s diet plan however is different. He’s on a special MMA alkaline diet plan, with an emphasis on eating foods that do not raise acid levels of the blood and leaves the body’s acidity levels stable. The alkaline diet plan requires Randy Couture to eat fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, roots, tubers, beans, legumes and fish. Also part of his diet plan is taking in diet supplements such as the green powder. The alkaline diet plan also requires that he avoid eating dairy products, meats and grains. He’s stated that one of the factors behind his choosing the alkaline diet plan is that it helps him recover from a hard MMA fitness training exercise especially considering his age.
An MMA Fighter’s Fitness Exercise Program
Randy Couture’s fitness exercise program is a mixture of MMA fitness training, boxing, wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu and an interesting fitness exercise that resembles that of an actual MMA fight. This fitness exercise makes use of a lot of plyometric exercises, explosive power, bungee cord training, high endurance and calisthenics exercises.
Even when he’s taking the day off from his grueling fitness training, he still does fitness exercises by going on light hikes and walks with his wife, a great habit that is highly productive and helps burn calories. His fitness exercise program is done six days a week, and when competition time is near, he does his fitness training a few times a day, increasing the intensity of his fitness exercise program.
